Nekta Nicolaou leads our Design and Engineering Business Unit. This is a significant leadership role that draws on his extensive experience and deep understanding of food, beverage and fast-moving consumer goods. His multi-discipline experience spans 15 years across process engineering (meat processing), value adding, further processing and project management.
As Business Unit Leader, Nekta is trusted with ensuring the overall success of our portfolio of design and engineering projects, the majority being food facilities and associated sustainability infrastructure upgrades and installations. With a Master of Agribusiness and a Bachelor of Material Engineering (Hons), he leads the day-to-day operations and delivery of successful complex food projects on time and on budget, with the highest quality, competence and commercial focus.
Having worked on the client side of the food and meat sector for most of his career, Nekta brings comprehensive and first-hand operational experience to the projects he leads. His extensive experience includes:
• Technical and Project Lead for the development of a $300M greenfield meat processing facility
• Cold store design and installation
• Beef slaughter floor and boning room upgrades
• Automated storage and retrieval systems
• DEXA implementation
• LEAP Robotic Cutting System
• Small stock slaughter chain and automation upgrades
• Multiple plate freezer installations and integrations
• Spray chilling upgrades
• Installation of carton lidding and labelling systems.
• Rendering plant upgrades including biofilters
• Wastewater treatment systems – primary, secondary, tertiary and reuse schemes
